Pouffy Pleaty Project

I just finished making this bag today!

I used Lisa Lam's For Pleats Sake pattern for the most part, but obviously liberties were taken (particularly in the straps department...). I kind of wish I could keep it - my first bag of its kind. Alas, it is not for me.
It was challenging in parts, but overall, super fun! I think I enjoy a good sewing challenge anyhow. And it feels so good when it all comes together.

It took me three go's to get the pearl prong snap done without a set of snap pliers. (Instead I used a thread spool and a hammer! haha!) Well worth the trouble, I think!

Milgi, Northcote Lane

I have been preparing for Cardiff's Monthly Boutique Market Day!

The next one is 3rd October and I will be there with a whole slew of new purses AND (hopefully!) fresh new screen prints! Dan Hamilton will also be there with some goodies, as well as Helen Murdoch and Daf Jones. So if you can make it out, that'd be great!

However, if you can't make it and you want a purse or one of my (currently mysterious) screen prints, no problem. I'm also selling them online*! Screen prints won't be available until October, but purses are ready and waiting to be loved. SO if you want a purse, just scoot on over to the brand new page I made just for them.
*they will be sold at a discounted/promotional price at the market, though!

And I don't know if any of you remember that lovely Toyota sewing machine I wanted so badly, but my cousin and her husband decided to be super awesome and buy it for me for my birthday and it is so good! It just sails through everything(!) and is just generally a joy to be around.
And it looks so at home amongst all my clutter! haha

Things with Stitching!

I've been going crazy with the sewing machine making many many little purses (which are totally for sale if you want any, by the way! But I'm going on vacation for a month and a half on Thursday...).

Of course, this new addiction could not be kept simply to purses. I have made myself a cute little polka dot dress!
I made it from start to finish! As you can see, it started with humble beginnings...
...they grow up so fast :')

Must say, this is probably one of my proudest moments! haha
I can't wait to wear it out! :)

Sewing circles!

I've been able to borrow a sewing machine from the lovely, amazing, wonderful Polly! (I'm pretty sure she has no idea how grateful I am.) And I am having so much fun with it!

I'd bought some fabrics from nuno ages ago (although the black one with the white hearts I went out and bought today! hehe)

Then, for my first act of prestidigitation, I decided to make a coin purse...

Boats, Bruises, Bristol and Bobbins

My last day as a second-year illustration student was yesterday. It was celebrated by a relaxing row-boat ride in Roath Park (in which I injured my arm by foolishly attempting to stop the boat from crashing into some rocks...siiiigh). Much pain was had. Maybe I'll make a mini comic about it later so we can all laugh at my pain together lol.

Then some friends and I had a(n expensive!) night out in Bristol. But it was fun, so all was well! haha

I didn't win the Egmont Placement, but Dan and I were runners up (along with Mary). The winners were Omi and Helen. Something to put on the old CV I think!
